Eurozone investor confidence improved in August as the outcome of the “Brexit” referendum had little impact on economic expectations, results of the latest Sentix survey showed Monday.
The investor sentiment index rose more-than-expected to 4.2 in August from 1.7 in July. It was forecast to increase to 3.6.
The improvement was driven by positive growth impulses of the Chinese economy.
The current situation indicator came in at 3.8 in August, down from 5.5 a month ago. Meanwhile, the gauge for economic expectations improved to 4.8 from -2 in July.
In Germany, the investor sentiment index reached 19.8 in August, up from 18.4 in July. While current situation deteriorated, expectations improved notably.
