European Commission and World Bank Group to strengthen partnership further

Director-General for International Cooperation and Development, Stefano Manservisi and World Bank Group Vice-president Cyril Muller met today at the WBG/IMF Annual Meetings in Washington.
During this meeting they reiterated their commitment to bring a decisive contribution to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, leaving no-one behind in the pursuit of a sustainable future. This commitment is a follow up of the June 2016 Joint Declaration which defines the framework for collaboration in situations affected by fragility, conflict and violence (FCV). Mr Manservisi and Mr Muller agreed to hold yearly strategic dialoguesby which both Institutions will strengthen their strategic dialogue, coordinate their approaches and develop joint operational solutions in the area of developement.
DG Manservisi said ‘We have launched a new dynamic in June, let us keep the momentum. The European Commission and the World Bank have the capacity to bring change if we join forces. Reviewing our cooperation on a yearly basis will help us not only to act together, but also to think and plan together. This will make us more efficient to deliver on the 2030 Agenda.’
